Save the Date! The New York City Department of Sanitation Is Coming to NYFW

by Kristen Heinzinger

Wednesday, September 7 is proving to have quite the lineup this New York Fashion Week! While Kanye West and Tom Ford are on the schedule, the Department of Sanitation has just reserved the day’s 6 to 9 p.m. time slot. That’s right! The DSNY is collaborating with Heron Preston for a collection called “Uniform,” which will show at—where else?—the “iconic” DSNY Salt Shed on Spring Street.

The DSNY and streetwear designer are teaming up to raise awareness for the 0x30 initiative (a.k.a. NYC’s goal to send zero waste to landfills by 2030). The collection will include workwear essentials that use up-cycled clothing and donated DSNY uniforms (hopefully in “lightly worn” condition). Guests will be able to pre-shop the limited-edition merchandise—but there’s more to come! The collaborators plans to churn out several more collections throughout the year. Hopefully nothing too trashy.
