Roberto Cavalli Spring 2015

by Dena Silver

Roberto Cavalli is always bold, never boring, and his Spring collection just furthered that notion. Psychedelic prints in gleaming reds, blues, greens, and yellows were accompanied by monochromatic black, brown and white ensembles. Texture also played a major role, taking shape in ornate pleating, ripped denim, croc-embossed leather, and sequins. Lots of sequins. There was also a bit of normcore action, with pale denim shorts, ripped up to reveal peeks of brocade. A long-sleeved green and red printed maxi dress was neatly pleated, giving structure and depth. An entirely white trouser look was a feast for the eyes, constructed from intricate lace and topped off with a loose, flopping bow. Animal print is at the core of Cavalli’s line, and his clients will certainly be donning such prints this season. Zebra and leopard patterns were constructed in silks, and adorned with beading and lace, gibing the classic patterns a bit of a refresh. Every piece here will make a statement. That’s certainly not news to the Cavalli woman.
