Resort 2014: Zimmermann

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Zimmermann
This season, Zimmermann’s resort collection was all about good girls gone bad, which naturally meant B&W contrasts plus a mix of sweet and sexy. The aim? A flirtatiously feminine collection with a bit of an edge. The result: Plenty of lace and ruffles in white and gold, which lead into crop tops, fringe, mesh and deep-V’s done in black (all the better for tapping into one’s sultry side). Was there a ’70s theme? But of course. A gold-flecked two-tiered ruffle dress was good girl glam, while a white floor-length halter dress with a high neckline and ruffles looked like an updated item out of Karen Carpenter’s wardrobe. Meanwhile, hints of ’90s cool came in plaid looks. The pattern showed up on a backless halter pinafore-style playsuit, as well as an asymmetrical skirt paired with a long white mesh sweater. As designer Nicky Zimmermann began to explore her dark side, there were vampy looks like a deep-V cut backless gown with fringe, a black mesh see-through ankle-length dress with an ultra high slit, and a black semi-transparent mesh crop top with bell sleeves following the mega trend du jour. And since this Aussie brand is known for their amazing swimsuits as well as their ready-to-wear, we couldn’t help but lust over that sizzling black mesh ruffled backless one-piece. Off to the gym!
