Resort 2014: Gucci

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Will the next Jerry Hall please stand up? For her resort 2014 collection for Gucci, Frida Giannini created ’70s style getaway essentials with the legendary supermodel in mind. The destination? Rio de Janeiro. Beachy tones permeated the collection in glittering golds, sand-colored silks, burnt oranges, sea greens, and deep sea blues. Gucci glam was definitely on hand in items like a shimmery gold column wrap dress with bell sleeves, or a short, shiny blue shift dress whose fabric mimicked sun flecks on the ocean. Yet the collection still maintained a decidedly laid-back look.

Hardly any sexy body-con dresses popped up in this collection of lounge-ready wide leg pants, jumpsuits, and oversized slouchy tops.  A sea foam long silk blazer mingled with matching, breezily-fit trou and a matching long tunic top; meanwhile, an earthy brown tunic top with rust silk wide leg pants paired with a loose black bomber jacket for a relaxed sportif moment. Looking for a smidge more feminine flair? Look no further than a rust orange dress, sleeveless, pleated, and silhouetted with a nipped-waist. Other femme picks: a raspberry floor-length dress with blouson sleeves dotted with pink hearts and gathered with ties at the bust line for the bohème babes. Easy breezy was the theme here, perhaps influenced by Giannini’s new foray into motherhood with the recent birth of her first child. Motherhood or not, it’s certainly a collection every woman can get behind.
