Resort 2014: Emporio Armani

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Emporio Armani
Blue’s the hue in this season’s Emporio Armani resort collection. While the resort season is known for its vacation-apropos vibe, these menswear-inspired pieces were a mix of all-business and wear-anywhere appeal. Long Mandarin-style blazers came in a shiny tweed-like silk paired with a matching, draped above-the-knee skirt, for example. Meanwhile, an orange leather version paired with peachy linen shorts (for the only hint of bright color in the collection). A navy blue, olive green, and baby blue silk horizontally striped pantsuit with a two-button jacket was a standout and was paired with an oversized brown briefcase and cream T-straped brogue flats, while a grey double-breasted pantsuit, while simple, screamed chic sophistication. More playful looks included a dark navy knit top paired with a black skirt and short sleeve navy knit jacket with periwinkle flaps. Also of interest? A short navy nipped waist flirty a-line dress, perhaps, or a greyish blue silk ruffle trimmed tunic top paired with matching pants had that more relaxed resort vibe without losing the signature sophisticated Emporio Armani air. Ultimately, this was a collection that would look as good in the office as it would on a jaunt to a chic summery locale.
