Resort 2014: Chloé

(NEW YORK) Chloé
Sail away, come sail away: Clare Waight Keller‘s resort collection for Chloé was a refreshing take on fashion’s annual nautical theme. Sailor stripes, fluid wide-leg pants, sandals modeled after surfboard cuffs, scuba flip-flops, a peacoat-esque pink jacket, and plenty of navy and white were all on board for these destination-ready designs.

Take, for instance, navy wide-leg pants worn with a navy and white striped sweater, finished with big white cuffs and a collar that mimicked a sailors bib. Meanwhile, pinstripe storm-flap denim trench and matching two-tone navy rolled up pants had an easy, breezy feel. An asymmetrical striped wrap skirt with a simple white long sleeve button down got accessorized with a gold iteration of the surfboard cuff flats (which we can only assume will become an “it” shoe). The sum of those parts? A chic, almost Victorian air. Pants, however, were the big focus: They came in all lengths and variations. An oversized silky baby blue pair pooled at the floor, while a pleated, wide-leg pair got a cropped treatment, and a white pair gathered at the ankles for a more tailored and sophisticated take on the harem pant. This collection set our minds adrift as we dreamed of wearing this parfait seaside ensemble of looks. Travel wardrobe? Check. Destination? TBD.
