Reed Krakoff Celebrates His Arty Store Opening In Soho

by Dena Silver

Reed Krakoff hit a perfect trifecta to celebrate the opening of his new Soho boutique: the spot was filled with chicsters, packed to the brim with smart designs, and finished off with a number of impressive art installations. These included a playful lamp installation by Nick Allman, who made the fixtures appear as if they were ripped out of the wall.  Additionally, plenty of features in the shop were covered in felt, including a super sleek couch and various desks and tables throughout the space. Krakoff took that unexpected design concept one step further, creating a limited edition version of his iconic RK40L bag in grey felt, each accented with a touch of colorful leather.

Armed with a glass of champagne, Krakoff filled us in on the details of the shop. “The store was essentially conceived with the idea of combining art, design, and fashion, in an off-handed way, as opposed to a very obvious way. The idea was that the space itself would be inspired by the same things that fashion is.” Attendees present to celebrate included the likes of Brooke Shields, Robbie Myers, Ariel Foxman, Margaret Russell, Kristina O’Neill, and Jonathan Adler. Consider this space a welcome, very well-curated addition to the Soho shopping landscape.
