Redbook Names New Art Director and Fashion Director

by Alexandra Ilyashov

High-level editorial hires over at Redbook: the Hearst glossy has tapped Petra Kobayashi as art director and Jennifer Hitzges as fashion director. Kobayashi arrived at Redbook in August for a three-month freelance art director stint, following a decade as art director at SELF. Prior to SELF, Kobayashi was art director at Brides for a year, after a year as deputy art director at Us Weekly. She also spent time at Lucky, Vogue, and Mademoiselle.

For the past 14 years, Hitzges has been a freelance stylist, working with the likes of Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Natalie Portman, Kerry Washington, Anne Hathaway, Eva Mendes, Julianne Moore, and more. Her work has also been featured in titles like Marie Claire, InStyle, ELLE UK, Rolling Stone, Flair, and Travel + Leisure, plus campaign work for the likes of Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Target, Nordstrom, Cover Girl, and John Frieda. From 1995 to 1999, Hitzges was at W, assisting eds like Joe Zee, Alex White, and Anne Christensen. The FIT alum got her stint in the industry as Giovanni Testino‘s assistant for three years.

“Jen and Petra are both super-talented—they are great gets for the magazine. Jen has styled some of the coolest, best-dressed celebs and has worked with incredible brands that we love at Redbook—she’s a genius at making trends gorgeously wearable,” Redbook editor-in-chief Meredith Rollins told The Daily. “Petra has such a fresh, modern design sense: everything she touches looks instantly prettier. They both reflect what the magazine manages to do so well, be beautiful and accessible at the same time.”
