Rebecca Taylor Debuts Her First Swimwear Collection, In Collaboration With Giejo

by Dena Silver

Need an excuse to add to that bikini collection? Look no further than the first swimwear range from Rebecca Taylor, who’s teaming up with the bikini brand Giejo for this inaugural collection. This collab was inspired by the vintage Indian dresses that Taylor’s mom donned in the ’70s, resulting in a collection filled with paisley, leopard, and floral prints. The hues will range from lavender and blush to vivid fuchsia, and each style will feature the flattering cuts and mix-and-match vibe that Giejo has become known for. “I love the idea behind interchangeable and multifunctional swim pieces that you can customize to your body type. When designing, my customer is always top of mind and I wanted to offer a capsule collection that she can have fun with while still feeling confident,” Taylor said of the collab.

Gabby Sabharwal started Giejo in 2011, working in PR by day and designing swimsuits on the side. She built the brand with the intention of each piece being mixed or matched with others in the collection, which was filled with an array bright colors and plenty of prints. The reason this collection came to be was because Taylor saw a bit of her younger self in Sabharwal, including her charisma and her desire to make it in the design realm. Turns out, it’s a mutual admiration society: “I’ve always been inspired by not only Rebecca’s aesthetic, unique point of view in the contemporary market and her ability to create vibrant and innovative prints, but also by her nurturing and encouraging nature as a designer and mentor – which is rare to find in fashion,” Sabharwal said. The collection hits Rebecca Taylor stores and online in April 2015.
