Prada's Take On A Literary Salon

by The Daily Front Row

Slip on a pair of thick framed Prada glasses and start reading; it’s time to get into the minds of the literary geniuses of a younger generation. Last night at the brand’s Soho boutique, a creative crowd crouched on the grand staircase to hear from the winners of the Prada Journal literary contest. The winning essayists, Mattia Conti, Leisl Egan, Angel Mario Fernández, Sarah Harris Waman and Peng Yang, took home 5000 Euros and will have their short stories featured in an upcoming digital book from the brand. Jonathan Ames, Zoe Kazan, Anthony Mackie, Jay McInerney and Gary Shteyngart read each short to the crowd, evoking the feeling of a classic literary salon, although the decor was a bit more modern. Also mingling in the barren store were Mamie Gummer, Giovanna Battaglia, Meredith Melling Burke, Jennifer Fisher and Genevieve Jones.
