Last night Prabal Gurung threw a bash at The Top of The Standard to fête his new cosmetics collab with MAC. Everyone from Gigi Hadid and Kelly Bensimon to Mia Morretti and Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne showed up to support Gurung. The new makeup line comes packaged in gold with a lattice design and includes bronzing powder, a cream color base, an eye pencil, eye shadow duos, the brand’s famous “lipglass”, a brush, and three shades of lipstick; the gilded goods retail for $20 to $70.

“I wanted to create this object of desire that you can keep even when the product inside is long gone. I wanted the packaging to have a merit on its own. It was very important to me,” Gurung told The Daily at last night’s event. “I wanted to create something that mimics what I do in fashion so I wanted to create something for women of substance. I wanted to do something that felt glamours, inspirational, and aspirational.” Naturally, we had to ask if Gurung had any standalone makeup line aspirations of his own. “This soon? Five years into my business? No,” said Gurung. “But I’ve always hoped that one day it will happen.” In the meantime, you can find the MAC Prabal Gurung cosmetic collection online starting November 20th and in MAC stores from November 26th through December 24th.
