Paris Fall Couture 2013: Maison Martin Margiela

by The Daily Front Row

(PARIS) Maison Martin Margiela
Anonymity was the word at Maison Martin Margiela’s runway, as each of the 19 models was ornamented with fancy face-obscuring masks. With tiny floral detailing, incredible beading, and a fashion-forward mosaic, these are easily the chicest face masks out there. Another unexpected hit from the couturier? Jeans…and not just a single pair! The baby blue denims hit low on the waist and were casually cropped to a capri length, rolled up to reveal a pair of platform knee-high boots. As for shirts? Those were totally optional, instead replaced with intricately beaded chest-plates, silk capes or a few pieces of heavily embroidered fabric. One top was constructed fro a handful of precious stones tied together with a simple black ribbon, in what could be a major wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. On the actual couture front, there was a smattering of detailed evening gowns and coats paired with long black silk gloves. A trio of jackets in salmon, pale blue, and severe black all featured floral hems and managed to be absolutely wearable and completely adorable.
