Nicole Richie Will Host FIT’s ‘Future Of Fashion’ Runway Show

by Dena Silver

Nicole Richie‘s going to college. Well, sort of: She’s this year’s host of ‘The Future Of Fashion’, FIT’s annual year-end runway show that showcases work of current design students. The show, held on April 30th, will feature the Fall 2015 designs of 90 students, handpicked from a class of 160. The talented finalists will be selected by six judges: Bryanboy, Refinery29’s Annie Georgia Greenberg, Lucky‘s Anne Keane, Siempre Mujer and Se PadresMaria Marrero, Lilliana Vazquez, and Saks Fifth Avenue’s Colleen Sherin.

While Richie is sure to capture the room with her infectious sense of humor (and that colorful coif), she’ll share the evening with a few other fashion stars. The runway show will be portioned off into five categories, and luminaries from those fields will present Critic Awards to the lucky students, as well as mentor the winners. Reem Acra will present for special occasion; Jason Mahler and Annalise Frank of American Eagle Outfitters and Tess Giberson will represent knitwear; Victoria Bartlett of VPL, Azede Jean-Pierre, Phillip Lim, and Nicholas and Christopher Kunz of Nicholas K will present for sportswear; and Morgan Curtis will cover the intimate apparel market. No designer has been named to provide the award for children’s wear. The show takes place each year thanks to a generous $2 million multi-year donation by Calvin Klein, an FIT alum, as well a grant provided by MAC Cosmetics.
