Nicholas K Fall 2015

by Dena Silver

Film noir has never looked so chic! Cult-fave Nicholas K label, helmed by brother and sister duo Nicholas and Christopher Kunz particularly focused on the twisted film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari for Fall. “It’s a silent film,” Nicholas told us backstage. “It’s one of the first abstract painted sets, so it’s slightly distorted, very gothic, dark, and when you look at it now, it looks so modern.” How did that show on the runway? Plenty of very, very low-cut cashmere styles, flowing and abstractly draped gowns, and some very welcome pinstripes. The silhouettes were very languid and long, particularly the elongated suit jackets paired with slim trousers. All finished off with leather details, like ankle straps or waist-clinching belts, plus more than a few aviator caps, the look was edgy, fresh, yet still very Nicholas K.
