Mugler Spring 2016

by Paige Reddinger

A giant golden propeller and a runway strip, of the airport variety, served as the backdrop for the Mugler show today. It was a military theme featuring nautical looks like a one-piece navy off-the-shoulder jumpsuit that opened the show, or an army green leather trench dress, and a vest dress that had camouflage pockets.

But the best looks seemed to be unrelated to the theme and more in line with the brand’s ongoing motif, which is straight up sex appeal. A leather dress with the sides cut out that gathered at the midriff with a red V and a white skirt with high-slits was seriously hot and a navy diamond cut dress with silver embellishments showed the right amount of skin without being vulgar (although one would have to have model Romy Schonbergers body to rock this properly). A black evening dress that hung from a slim silver piece with a high slit is also just what the Mugler girl is looking for. Sometimes having no theme other than the codes of the house works best.
The news from this runway? This season Mugler launched handbags, which a few models showed off with their looks. One silver boxy bag was slung through the epaulets of Constance Jablonski’s leather dress. But we’re hoping the silver circular earrings will also be ready for purchase come spring.
