More Than Just Shirts: Thomas Pink To Premiere New Women's Line

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Thomas Pink is showing the ladies some love. The women’s line, first created in 1992, has always been an afterthought for the button-down shirt purveyor, but now that women’s has grown to account for a third of the brand’s business, Thomas Pink’s head honchos are taking notice by launching a new women’s line. The 60-piece collection, which hits stores in late August, will still center around the white button-down, but will include skirts, jackets, pants, and shirt dresses. But staying true to their DNA, 50 of the pieces in the collection will still be shirts, which will come in Swiss cotton, poplin, and silk.

Style icons and perpetual shirt wearers Katharine Hepburn and Diana Vreeland are said to be the ladies behind creative director, Florence Torrens‘ vision. And not to leave out the dandy gentlemen: Jane Austen’s Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice is also said to be an influence. Menswear was one of the main themes of the runways this season, after all. Who better to carry on the torch for this trend than Thomas Pink?
