Miu Miu Spring 2015

by Dena Silver

“A fashion show is always an opportunity to establish relations between its three main components: the venue, the audience and the fashion,” Miu Miu’s post-show statement read. So let’s go over each point, shall we? The venue was the Palais d’Iéna, home to the Economic, Social, and Environtmental Council in Paris, designed by architect Auguste Perret. As for the audience? Starry, with Liv Tyler, Shailene Woodley, Hailee Steinfeld, Nicola Peltz, and Léa Seydoux perched in the front row. And now, onto the clothes. The silhouette was mostly focused some combination of a pencil skirt, a crop top, and a jacket. Variation came into play with prints, including a tweedy plaid and an electric floral brocade. Texture was present in many silk ruffles, and a shiny red leather. While the silhouette seemed pointedly modern, there was a certain vintage undertone to the collection, like the white coat with a fur collar and the haphazard panels of tan suede. The latest Miu Miu shoe to covet would be this season’s mules, presented with an oversized bow, which also came in a boot version. Pre-order away, darlings!
