by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) The missing plane that carried passengers Vittorio Missoni, Maurizia Castiglioni, Guido Foresti, Elda Scalvenzi, as well as pilot Hernan Jose Marchan and co-pilot Juan Carlos Ferrer Milano, has been found. The discovery came on the 5th day of the most recent search mission thanks to the technology of an American oceanographic ship called Deep Sea. The plane was found North of the Los Roques Archipelago, a chain of islands and coral reefs in the Caribbean near Venezuela.

The discovery comes almost seven months after the small Britten Norman BN2 Islander prop plane disappeared on January 4th after taking off from Los Roques, where the passengers had been vacationing on one of the resort islands, Gran Roque. The plane was scheduled to fly to the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetia, but dropped off the air traffic control’s radar shortly after takeoff at 11:29 a.m.

Vittorio Missoni was the son of Missoni founders Ottavio and Rosita Missoni; Vittoro managed the commercial and manufacturing operations as well as international expansion of the company. Recovery efforts are ongoing.
