Milan Fall 2014: Gucci

The ’60s have struck again! On Frida Giannini‘s runway at Gucci, that meant ultra-covetable and sellable looks. Magazines also know a thing or two about what sells, so it’s no wonder that Gianni’s collection last season landed her a total of 108 cover placements for 2013. That’s the most for any brand last year. And from the looks of this collection the brand may have a repeat success for 2014. Fluffy goat hair fur coats in sea green, baby blue, and pale pink might score a few coveted covers and the A-line leather dresses with sequined tops and bibs in canary yellow, baby blue, black, and white are red carpet ready without fully falling into the evening wear category. In fact, there wasn’t a single floor-length gown in this collection. It was all about short dresses, snakeskin chelsea boots, leopard print coats, colorful pantsuits, leather, and plenty of fur. It was luxury to the hilt in that casual way that has been so pervasive on the Fall runways this season. Of course, casual for Gucci means pieces like a fully mink fur sweatshirt-style top.
