Milan Fall 2013: Blumarine, Etro

(MILAN) Blumarine
A return to romance! Anna Molinari opted to revisit the brand’s softer side in a muted palette of nudes, blush pinks and baby blues. A soft shouldered nude trench worn over a cowl neck cream sweater, a baby blue cashmere sweater and shorts set was with a matching shaggy shawl knit sweater and a full-on blush pink ribbed fur mini dress offered lighter, more delicate options for Fall. But it wasn’t all so sweet: Black leather suits or an asymmetrically draped micro-mini got paired with black leather button-down, while a black sequined mini worn with a plunging deep-v neckline added an indubitable dose of sex appeal.

Etro
Known for their wild prints, this season Veronica Etro went tech-y, sending out digitally-inspired patterns that were optically eye-popping. A black column dress with cutout sides had a yellow print which lent the effect of claw marks. The same treatment on a pencil sweater dress, however, conjured up spikey feathers. Wild! A red zippered pair of pencil trou came with triangulated patterns, avec matching top, and a red sequined shift dress had black lattice detailing that curved, shell-like, around one side. The dizzying array was trippy, amounting to a cool, edgy ethos that didn’t feel like it was trying too hard with that increasingly pervasive splash of punkiness.
