Hop on board and don’t forget your spacesuit, because Givenchy has an intergalactic adventure in store for the hommesRiccardo Tisci went cosmic for his Spring 2014 Menswear collection, taking inspiration from the inner workings of a computer, resulting in a catwalk filled with extraterrestrial creatures. Kanye would be pleased with the ample selection of man skirts on show, but he will have to forgo his usual noir-filled palette for something a bit more outlandish. The melodramatic rapper would probably take a liking to that bullseye skirt, which draws all the attention right to the nether regions. For the slightly shier types, perhaps a graphic kilt embellished with the number 17 would be more apropos. The collection was devoid of accessories, save for simple sandals and glorified Frownies that covered the cheekbones, chins and foreheads of the Givenchy spacemen. Remember when a sweatshirt tied around the waist was the pinnacle of chic? It’s time to revisit that trend, apparently. Even the swankiest of suits were ornamented with ’90s-esque tied detailing at the waist. Ah, fashion’s cyclical tendency to recycle ideas…
