Meet Claudine DeSola! The Fairy Godmother of Caravan Stylist Studio

by The Daily Front Row

Ever wonder whom the celebs go to for pre-carpet primping or where the editors get their falsies fixed before the step and repeat? Meet Claudine DeSola, the innovator behind Caravan Stylist Studio. With over 17 years experience in the world of fashion & lifestyle PR, DeSola is now focused on out of the box retail concepts. Claudine developed Caravan, which was the first mobile store touring the tri-state area which received international press recognition.  It’s not your average styling session, rather an innovative wardrobe and beauty concept that pairs actresses, tastemakers, and media influencers with top fashion designers and beauty experts. Formerly housed in the Fashion District, the studio now operates out of a luxurious suite at the Carlton hotel, which has been designed and outfitted by Samuelle Green. After one of their highly coveted beauty experiences, DeSola dished to us on which celebs sat in the seat before us!

How did the idea for Caravan come about?
Coming from a PR background, I think I always felt bad charging a lot of money for PR especially for the growing, emerging designers. I figured there should be some balance. I understand the PR business but if I can do something to help the publicists that are already out there helping these emerging designers and network them or put events together that they can be a part of I thought it would be something that gave back to the fashion industry. So everything we do is totally complimentary to the designers.

Complimentary!? That’s unheard of in fashion!
The way the studio works is full service. Our main aspect is bringing in actors and musicians to get them ready for red carpet. But obviously it also makes sense to bring in influencers, editors, bloggers, designers, and DJ’s. Whoever is out there and wants to network with designers and use our services.

Who supplies the wardrobe?
We work with over 100 designers and it’s everyone from Catherine Malandrino to Alice + Olivia to emerging designers that you might not have known before. “Made in New York” is a big part of what we’re trying to bring in!

How are you building a relationship between designers and celebs?
It is nice because I love it when I have the actresses wear a designer and then they love them so much! They are building a relationship with those designers; it’s full circle. The designer helps the actress, and then the actress supports the designer. It is very genuine and really what the love of fashion is all about.

Which celebrities have you recently worked with?
Brendan Dooling of Carrie Diaries just did a shoot with us. Claire Coffee from Grimm just found this great designer Sachin & Babi she loved and wore a set to the STOKER premiere. Nichole Galicia wore Carmen Marc Valvo to events and then attended his fashion show.

Why is the Carlton hotel home base?
They are really giving designers the opportunity and the resources to have events, allow me to style actresses and musicians in their clothing, and give us the opportunity to do look book shoots, trunk shows, press previews, presentations and events. During fashion week, they gave their New Yorker suite to two designers made in New York to use for a presentation.  I think this is really giving back to the fashion community and it in a way they are sponsoring over 100 fashion shows for the year.
