Ralph Lauren Corp. has named Malcolm Carfrae as their global head of communications, public relations, and media. Carfrae has spent over 11 years at Calvin Klein Inc., where he’s currently executive vice president and chief communications officer. ‘It’s very bittersweet for me to leave my Calvin Klein familywe’ve achieved so much together over the past decade and I’ll truly miss them,” Carfrae told The Daily today via e-mail. “But the opportunity at Ralph Lauren is very exciting and I’m thrilled to join David Lauren and the team at this important moment for the brand. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity for me.” At Ralph Lauren, Carfrae will be responsible for areas such as global public relations, corporate communications, internal communications, as well as celebrity relations and overseeing social media and global media planning. He’s expected to stay with Calvin until July 21st and begin his new role on July 29th, where he succeeds SVP of corporate communications, Winnie Lerner, who will remain with the company through the transition. You can wish the Australian native well in a few weeks when he once again sits on the host committee for the 6th annual ‘Summer Party’ for his pet charity, AFF. “Our annual Australian Fashion Foundation party is on July 22 at Skylark,  my new favorite venue in New York. Ryan [Lobo] and Ramon [Martin] from TOME are co-hosting—to me, they epitomize the Australian entrepreneurial spirit,” he said. “I’m so proud of what they’ve achieved in New York.” We’d say the same about Carfrae.
