Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2015

by Dena Silver

For Spring, Maison Martin Margiela took their inclination for underpinnings to the next level. These corsets were far less restrictive than the foundation pieces of yore, and the collection had a sense of movement to it. A tied up vest rippled in the breeze while a playful polka-dot top peeked out from underneath. Pinstripes were abundant, like an asymmetrical navy pinstripe cape and coordinating pants. And what would spring be without flowers in bloom? Ample flower power was added thanks to painted daisies decorating a vintage leather coat. A coordinating sleeveless top and slit skirt combo was covered with baby blue and orange buds. A light floral patterned coat achieved a very cool vibe with pattern blocking and sleeves rolled up to the elbows. Structured and flowing, stripes and flowers…parfait pairings in our book.
