Madonna's Iconic Costumes: Inside Macy's One-Day Pop-Up

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) To celebrate the hugely successful Material Girl line that she designs for Macy’s with daughter, Lourdes “Lola” Leon, Madonna has personally hand-picked eight of her most iconic stage costumes to be exhibited tomorrow in Century City, California for a one-day pop-up exhibition sponsored by Macy’s, entitled “Madonna’s Fashion Evolution”. The eight looks include Madge’s white tulle Like A Virgin gown, plus her infamous conical bra designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for her Blonde Ambition Tour. Also showcased in the retrospective mix: pieces designed by Christian Lacroix for Madonna’s Reinvention Tour.

The event marks the first time the looks have ever been on display together for public viewing. To what lengths did Madonna go in orchestrating the gathering and showing of these looks? The Jean Paul Gaultier bustier was actually flown in from an exhibit in Amsterdam to do its tour in California. A perfectionist, as always!

Arianne Phillips
, Madonna’s longtime collaborator, helped curate and style the exhibit, which will be shown alongside the full range of Material Girl looks. What does the Spring collection offer? “I think (I hope) you guys will be pleased to see that the spring 2013 collection of Material Girl incorporates more loose t-shirts and tank tops and flowy-er-y-ish-like skirts and dresses,” said Lola on Material Girl’s blog. “Yay. Ugh gotta let da body BREATHE.” Amen. Who knew a teen would have the answers to our fashion prayers? She is Madonna’s offspring, after all…
