Louis Vuitton Loses Women's RTW Studio Director, Julie de Libran

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Vuitton has lost a design talent from the Marc Jacobs era: Julie de Libran, the studio director of women’s ready-to-wear at Louis Vuitton, has left the Paris studio. Working under Jacobs during his time as the label’s artistic director, de Libran had also been in charge of the cruise and pre-fall collections. Additionally, de Libran helped Jacobs construct the brand’s ready-to-wear atelier. Her last collection was for Pre-Fall, which debuted in New York earlier this week.

As for the new guard at LV? Nicolas Ghesquière has brought on several new designers to be a part of his team prior to unveiling his first collection for Louis Vuitton in Paris, according to WWD. de Libran is reportedly still under contract with LVMH and could end up taking on a new role within the luxury conglomerate’s umbrella of brands. However, in November de Libran told Vogue UK that she’d love to work on her own label one day. She joined Louis Vuitton in 2008 after having worked closely with Miuccia Prada at the designer’s namesake label for a decade. Prior to Prada, de Libran worked at Versace, Jean Charles de Castelbajac, and Gianfranco Ferré.
