Lily James Is the New Face of My Burberry

British actress Lily James is the new face of My Burberry, the brand announced today. This is a major coup for James, marking her first global advertising campaign. She’ll make her Burberry debut in August with a film and images shot by Mario Testino, to coincide with the launch of the newest women’s fragrance, My Burberry Black.

“I am so proud to be British, so it really means a lot,” James said in a press statement. “Shooting my first campaign was so special – I don’t want to give away too much but I had a lot of fun showing a different side of myself.”

“I have admired [James’] work for quite some time and was bowled over by her wonderful charm and her warmth when we met so it was a treat to have had the opportunity to collaborate on this shoot together,” added Burberry chief creative and CEO Christopher Bailey.

For those less familiar with her resume, James’ work includes Downton Abbey, War and Peace, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Her next project is a film alongside Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx in Baby Driver.
