La Vie En Ruffian: Creative Time Ball

by The Daily Front Row

Ruffian’s Brian Wolk and Claude Morais are back with another recent tale from La Vie En Ruffian. This time the boys fill us in on Tuesday’s Creative Time Ball in Brooklyn, where they served as hosts. Take it away, boys…

“On the first snow of the season, an army of NYC’s finest braved the wind chill and crossed the Rubicon to the hipster promised land to celebrate the inaugural Creative Time Fall Ball, hosted by yours truly. Output, Williamsburg’s doppelganger of Berlin night club Berghain, was transformed into a highly stylized technicolor adult playground. Guests entered the club through a tunnel of Ruffian’s own Toile de Jouy wallpaper.  Suspended above them was a mobile of 4,000 Prismacolor markers to graffiti their own personal Bansky with. Once in the massive space more than 800 guests interacted with the site-specific sculptural installations of Alex Da Corte, Eske Kath, Andrea Mary Marshall, and Andre Saraiva. Some of our favorite Ruffian Muses who attended included Anne Pasternak, president of Creative Time; Poppy King, Whitney Larkin, Lucy McIntyre, Allyson Shiffman, Nicole Phelps, Athena Calderone, and Charlie Hunter Paille. At the strike of midnight the beautiful duo from The Dolls, DJ Mia Moretti and violinist Margot gave a commanding performance to be remembered. With Moretti spinning tracks ranging from Jay-Z to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and with Moe’s prodigious mastery of the strings, The Dolls’ performance was as intoxicating as it was irresistible, at what will go down in the annals of history as the night art became the new fashion.”
