Kenzo Fall/Winter 2016

by Paige Reddinger

If anyone is going to do a brazen mix of patterns and textures this season and make it look cool and covetable it’s Carol Lim and Humberto Leon. Their wild patterns for Kenzo are what put this brand back on the map and into the hands of street saavy, style hungry youth around the globe. Japanese anime cartoon Sailor Moon was the inspriation behind some of the schoolgirl looks, but a hot pink and shimmery silver leopard look worn by Marjan Jonkman looked like something other animated heroines like Jem and the Holograms might wear. If you’re bold enough to wear those, then why not try a head to toe lavender astrakhan pantsuit with leopard detail? Or how about a gold leopard print version? While you’re at it, wear a white smocked romantic sleeping gown just to throw everyone off. The next day throw on a black vinyl pencil dress for a femme fatale moment. That’s what any number of Lim and Leon’s circle of hautely hip friends would do—namely real life style heroine Chloë Sevigny
