JW Anderson Fall 2015

by Daniel Chivu

Jonathan Anderson goes by the beat of his own drum, which is why this season he ignored the endlessly pervasive ’70s trend and went full-on ’80s. The result was incredibly fun! There were pieces like a silver lamé worn cinched with a geometric belt and triangular oversize earrings and slouchy yellow boots. The dress’ patterns seemed to mimic the designs and colors of the ’80s Memphis art movement, which was evident elsewhere in the collection as well. Long one-button leather coats, a Lurex neck-tie top, and matching knit pants and tops were eye-catchers. These were the kind of clothes Melanie Griffith would have worn in Working Girl (if she had been a party girl instead). There was plenty to love for a girl that wants to stand out in the crowd.
