Isabel Marant Spring 2016

by Paige Reddinger

The venue for Isabel Marant at the Jardin du Palais-Royal has to be one of the best we’ve seen yet. Guests walked into an open venue with high greek columns and stripped pillars of varying sizes in the entry way, which proved to be great props for the street style stars. Natalie Joos coincidentally turned up in a striped pantsuit that fit in with the scenery just perfectly.

The venue was huge and the show itself felt huge, too. The looks came bounding out to an ’80s hip hop track that immediately had everyone perked up and on the edge of their seats. What ensued was Marant’s signature cool-girl bohemian looks with a global flare. She looked to Rajasthan for the textiles and therefore caftans and tunic tops had a sort of destination vibe, but this collection had contrast, with bold bursts of gold and silver lamé. It came as pants and a jacket underneath a robe coat or as a hot little mini skirt or super cool anorak that floated down the runway as the model walked. The ’80s flare added some excitement to Marant’s bohème codes that had many in the crowd taking mental orders for Spring. Plus! The shoes…silver heels with bits of orange threads weaved in were stellar. Marant is always on her shoe game, but the collection felt just as fresh.
