Hooray For (The Daily) Hollywood!

by The Daily Front Row

(LOS ANGELES) What happens when The Daily and Maybelline New York go to Hollywood? Yesterday we gave Tinseltown a touch of our magic as we hosted ‘A Celebration of Fashion X Hollywood’ at Cecconi’s West Hollywood to celebrate The Daily‘s inaugural Hollywood Issue. A bevy of A-listers, including House of Cards’ Kate Mara, Mandela‘s Naomie Harris, Mena Suvari, Master of Sex‘s Caitlin Fitzgerald, Entourage’s Perrey Reeves, and Jenna Dewan-Tatum rolled out the red carpet to welcome us to town.

“It’s beautiful, I absolutely love it!” Harris told us about The Daily‘s first-ever Hollywood issue, covering the industry’s fashion landscape and behind-the-scenes players. “I love The Daily! It’s so glossy and I love the huge photos. It’s really pretty!” How’s she holding up during Oscar week? “I’ve never done the Oscar week before. I went last year, but I only came for the day. It’s really overwhelming. There’s so much going on, but it’s a real celebration of the arts and success.” Any starry encounters for Harris lately? ” I met Oprah the other day—that’s been a lifelong ambition for me. It was extraordinary. I’m having lunch with her this week. It’s insane!” As for Harris’ sense of style, this best dressed thing is new to her: “I look back at the horrors that I used to wear,” Harris said. “I didn’t understand it or think about the way I looked. My best friend Nola Singer told me that I wasn’t making the most of myself. We started with the Vanity Fair party last year and then the Mandela [press] tour. She’s revolutionized my style.” Singer also joined The Daily for the chic luncheon and pulled it together for Harris one more time yesterday in a stunning Giambattista Valli Spring ’14 number.

The elegant soirée also brought out the likes of David Meister, Cameron Silver, Brooke Wall, Stephanie Danan, Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant, Marie Claire‘s Tracy Shaffer, Haute Hippie’s Lisa Caldrone, and American Hustle costume designer Michael Wilkinson, who were greeted with special signature Maybellini cocktails.

Right before lunch was served, The Daily‘s Paul Turcotte and Michelle Lee, and Maybelline New York’s Julia Murphree toasted the room and the marriage of fashion and Hollywood. On the menu at the West Hollywood staple? A three-course meal, consisting of an arugula parmigiano salad, followed by baked branzino, spicy roast chicken, and wild mushroom risotto, wrapped up with assorted bite-sized sweets.

Wilkinson, up for his first Oscar this weekend for American Hustle, told us he’s enjoying every second of the nomination process and plans to stay up very late this Sunday “no matter what happens!” The Face mentor Lydia Hearst is looking forward to the show’s return on Oxygen next week. Turns out, she still hasn’t seen the first episode, but joked, “I lived it, so I know what happens!” Meanwhile, Suvari teased that she’ll be launching her own lifestyle blog in the near future.

“I’m so glad The Daily is here!” one boldfaced name told us before grabbing a stack of 10 copies for the road. Guests departed with a bevy of Maybelline New York products plus a LeSportsac gift bag brimming with goodies from PANDORA jewelry, Evian, and, naturally a copy of the haute new Daily. Awards season’s latest contender has arrived!
