Herve Leger Spring Summer 2016

by Sydney Sadick

“This collection is about going forward.” That’s what Herve Leger by Max Azria’s creative director Lubov Azria made clear while debuting the brand’s spring 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week. “We’re celebrating 30 years young in the business, so it’s really about evolving into the next level.” Her intentions were shown via new styles and techniques that we haven’t seen before, like a variety of pants (lots of them), jacquards, beading, embroidering and leather. “It’s actually the first runway where we haven’t used the bandage technique,” Azria told us. But don’t worry, the body contrasts are still very much there. The front row attendees sported the brand’s iconic body contouring dresses including Nina Agdal, Victoria Justice, Charlotte McKinney, and Petra Nemcova.

The show was run a little differently to celebrate the big 3-0. “It was separated into two portions, the second collection being reflective of the 30 years of Herve Leger,” Max Azria told The Daily. “Herve Leger needs to evolve beyond one dress, although a very important dress. It’s time to make tops, skirts and pants, too.”
