Hearst Debuts “The Face of Fashion: An Exhibit by Patrick McMullan”

Patrick McMullan was joined by his loyal band of followers last night at the Hearst Tower to toast “The Face of Fashion: An Exhibit by Patrick McMullan”. The show combines collages of front row fashion week snaps with a few formal portraits. Town & Country‘s Jay Fielden, Esquire‘s David Granger, ELLE‘s Robbie Myers, and Marie Claire‘s Anne Fulenwider and Nina Garcia all participated in the shoot that took place throughout the Hearst Tower. Not bad for a man who can count Warhol as one of his first fans. “The first time I met Andy Warhol was at Studio 54,” McMullan told The Daily. “It was probably 1978, and my friend Bruce Campbell introduced me to him, and he said something very mythical like “I don’t know where my soul is.” He always said things that made you think. I got to be very friendly with Andy over the years, He was one of the great Renaissance men. I like to be a Renaissance man as much as I can.”

Best of all, the man of the hour was taking party photos at his own party. He never misses an eve on the town…unless he’s catching up on some shows. “I do take nights off to watch television, but then I take pictures off the TV,” he said, showing off a small point-and-shoot camera stuffed inside his blazer pocket. “I was watching Cruising with Al Pacino and just loved how it looked. Oh, I have to get this. Look how beautiful they are, they’re beautiful men!” he added before darting away to snap Richard Johnson and Jay McInerney.
