Haute For Houghton!

by The Daily Front Row

Katharine Polk debuted her Houghton resort collection on The McKittrick Hotel’s rooftop and it was chock full of light, flowy feminine looks for her loyal bohemian babes. Separates like boxy crop tops worn with high-waisted long and below-the-knee skirts, simple shift dresses with sheer wispy white blousson sleeves, and pants worn with bra tops came in soft colors like blush, mint green, baby blue and plenty of ivory with bits of black mixed in. Her inspiration? It might sound a bit familiar: it’s Katharine Hepburn, who Polk was named after and whose middle name was Houghton. “I really go to her for my inspiration, season in and season out,” said Polk. “Each season I need to get fresh and clean my mind and get some new fresh ideas. But in terms of real inspiration, I really look to her and look through the archives and pictures of her in different eras.” And while Hepburn’s off-screen style might conjure up images of chic pantsuits, Hepburn’s free spirit is certainly captured in this dreamy collection.
