Guy Laroche Fall 2015

by Dena Silver

As far as debut collections go, taking a peek at the archives of the brand is a sensible place to start. Adam Andrascik took that route chez Guy Laroche, poring over the late designer’s collection of sketches to inform his Fall designs. The outcome? He certainly kept the ’80s-inspired opulence intact, especially in the form of silver and gold foil dribbled down the front of knit pieces, but an impressive mastery of textures and silhouettes kept the collection from seeming too vintage. Especially the chiffon gowns and tops decorated with delicate lines of ruffles. Andrascik’s namesake label has become known for his mastery of jackets, and he certainly showed that prowess here. From a moto style featuring one ruched shoulder and one fur-covered shoulder, to the long, slim coat covered in golden symbols, there were refreshing takes on outerwear. Also on offer: waist-cinching belts, encircling sweaters, blouses, and jackets.
