Gucci Opens in Miami’s Design District Just in Time for Art Basel

by Paige Reddinger

Gucci is opening a boutique in the Miami Design District just in time for Art Basel Miami. The new 4,700 square feet store, located at 139 NE 41st street, was conceived by creative director Alessandro Michele and will carry Gucci’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections, handbags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and Gucci Décor line.

A travel theme is pervasive throughout the store, and will reference the house’s storied baggage (pun intended). Expect to take a selfie against its one-of-a-kind red lacquered wood staircase, which will lead customers to a second floor featuring a private space for VIP shoppers. The room is customized with pink fabric walls and a marble mosaic floor. Fitting rooms and furniture are decked out in pale pink velvets, and vintage rugs are layered over one another to achieve Michele’s siganture bohemian effect.

The exterior design will be unique to the Miami location, and it features a façade of marble and pale green industrial metal along with lush greenery and an mural illustrated by artist Coco Capitán.

On the merch front, feel free to score two exclusive pieces from the Fall/Winter 2017 collaboration with Capitán—a yellow drawstring backpack and yellow belt bag.
