Girls Inc. Raises $500K at Annual NYC Spring Luncheon

Yesterday, The Daily joined the New York City chapter of nonprofit Girls Inc.—which provides life-changing programs for at-risk girls—at the Metropolitan Club for its annual spring luncheon. Hosted by comedian Caroline Rhea, the event honored MSNBC’s newest daytime anchor Stephanie Ruhle and legal powerhouse Kirkland and Ellis LLP. Notable guests included celebrity chef Katie Lee, Julie Macklowe, Kimberly KravisLisa Blau, and Christine Lemieux.

The afternoon kicked off with a few inspiring words about the Girls Inc. mission from event co-chairman Jasmine Barr. “Its what we do at Girls Inc. New York City every day. We educated our girls on choices for their careers. We open them up to new possibilities. We give them skills to build their financial futures. We provide emotional support during critical years and empower them about their bodies, their personal safety, and well-being.”

Ruhle added, “I am so blown away and overwhelmed and honored. I don’t want girls to have to push. I just want us to have a seat at the table, and have a chance to win.”

Guests had the opportunity to bid on luxury packages during a live auction that closed out the luncheon. Items included a Breakfast at Tiffany’s package donated by Tiffany & Co. for six, a  gourmet meal for four prepared by chef Lee at her Hamptons home (which sold twice!), a Tracy Anderson six-month membership with a private training session, and two sets of coveted Hamilton broadway show tickets.
