Giorgio Armani To Host Label Au Jour le Jour During Milan Fashion Week

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Who’s on Giorgio Armani’s shortlist of burgeoning designers to watch? Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez, apparently, as Armani will be hosting the duo’s label, Au Jour le Jour, during Milan Fashion Week. Armani started a program last year granting one up-and-comer per season the chance to trot their ways down the runway, at the designer’s show space on Via Bergognone (called Armani Teatro). Fontana and Marquez follow in the footsteps of last season’s guest, Stella Jean, who showed during MFW. Stella Jean was the first budding womenswear designer to show in the space. In June 2012, Armani hosted menswear Andrea Pompilio during Men’s Fashion Week. Au Jour le Jour launched in 2010, and the line’s vibe is decidedly sweet and girly with a slightly cheeky streak (and a plethora of patterns). The label is stocked at the likes of Yoox, Luisa via Roma, and select Harvey Nichols and Saks Fifth Avenue locations. In addition to Armani’s commitment to supporting the young guns of Italian fashion, the designer joined the Italian Chamber of Fashion in November as a means of underscoring his commitment to the Italian fashion scene and to Milan Fashion Week.
