Giamba Spring 2015

Giambattista Valli launched his much-anticipated debut of his secondary line Giamba in Milan and it has all of the girly, sexy femininity of his main line. Those that could only dream of owning one his gorgeous leggy dresses that are so popular amongst the 20-something jet-set crowd might be able to have a taste of his signature “Valli of the Dolls” look. Good news: Valli indeed stayed very true to his main line’s look.

That meant ultra-short baby doll dresses in silky bubble gum pinks, sheer white organza, and black. The latter came as a mini playsuit with tufts of wispy feather details or in itsy-bitsy black shorts (tights are a must!) topped off with an ornate B&W floral top, with a petal pattern splashed across big panels. Interspersed were hues like a mustard yellow mini topped off with an above-the-knee, short-sleeved lavender windbreaker jacket, or an ever-so-light lime green dress made of ostrich feathers (yes, it’s still expensive, just not as expensive as a Giambattista proper, darlings). One of the standout pieces was a white lace baby doll dress with flecks of pink and black florals at the neckline worn over black underpinnings. Each look was complete with a pair of white point d’esprit tights and ’60s-style platforms. It was sugary and girly, but sexy. We could picture a few of Hollywood’s PYTs in several of these looks. Elle Fanning and Taylor Swift come to mind.
