Getting Unlimited Blowouts In New York Is Now An Attainable Luxury, Thanks To BeautyPass

by Dena Silver

If your ultimate dream in life is to get unlimited blowouts each month, well, your dream has come true. For the reasonable price of $99 a month, a ClassPass-esque service called BeautyPass is setting out to improve the ‘dos of ladies across the island of Manhattan. This means you can get as many blowouts as you’d like, as often as you’d like, at over 40 salons across the city. All you have to do is select the date, time, and location of your preferred appointment, and the BeautyPass concierge takes care of all the other work.

The two masterminds behind BeautyPass, Hillary Hutcheson and Ritika Gill come to the table with plenty of cosmetic experience, having previously worked with brands like Rimmel London and L’Oreal. They’re also the founders of BeautyBooked, which makes scheduling salon and spa treatments a total breeze. So learn how BeautyPass works and run, don’t walk, to sign up. Your tresses will thank you.

How did the idea for BeautyPass come to be?
Hillary Hutcheson: Consumers turn to BeautyBooked for a convenient way to discover and book appointments at vetted salons and spas. With the launch of BeautyPass, our mission is to make that even easier and more accessible by being the one-stop solution for all of your beauty booking needs. Through BeautyPass, members are able to experience unlimited blowouts at trusted salons anytime, anywhere across New York City. Over the coming months, we will be rolling out in new markets and expanding the BeautyPass experience to include unlimited manicures, spa treatments, spray tans, and more.

How exactly does the concierge work?
Hillary: We have a team of beauty concierges, who are actual people, that love helping our members secure appointments. Our concierges are familiar with all of the salons and spas in our network and are able to offer personal assistance to our members. For instance, if a member has curly hair, our concierge will ensure her blow out is with a stylist renowned for working with curly hair.

What criteria did you use when choosing participating salons?
Ritika Gill: Providing our members with high-quality services from trusted salons is very important to us. Before a salon is invited to join the BeautyPass network, we work with our team of editors and beauty bloggers to vet establishments on the following criteria: service quality, staff, ambiance, cleanliness, and of course, would we recommend the salon to a friend? If a salon or spa receives high marks across all five measures, then we invite them to join.

How many people have signed up so far?
Hillary:
We’ve had a lot of interest in BeautyPass. We’ve already added more concierges to keep up with demand, and will soon be incorporating our proprietary beauty booking technology so that we can continue to grow the service in New York City and beyond.

Do you anticipate adding on more salons as the service grows?
Ritika: Yes, we currently have over 40 top NYC salons on BeautyPass like Paul Labrecque, Salon SCK, and Butterfly Studio and we’re adding more every day.

Any plans to roll out BeautyPass to other cities?
Ritika:
Yes, we plan to expand to additional U.S. cities in late summer and early fall of 2015.

And finally, how often do you get a blowout?
Ritika: I go once a week, usually before meetings on Tuesday mornings.
Hillary: I go every Friday evening after work before going out. It’s the perfect way to de-stress and get ready for the weekend!
