French Shop L’Eclaireur To Expand To The U.S.

by Dena Silver

An iconic Parisian shop has its sights set on the States, and we’re not talking about Colette. L’Eclaireur, the chain of shops founded by Armand Hadida, is plotting to open its first stateside location in Los Angeles come March. There are currently seven outposts of the shop located throughout Paris; as a signature of sorts, each boutique features a vastly different interior, some with hidden entrances and others with enchanting sculptures, each stocked with a spate of merchandise to compliment the décor.

The West Coast destination will follow suit, housed in a three-story building on Robertson Boulevard which will be revamped by Italian architect Vincenzo de Cotiis and filled with a spread of wares for men and women along with various lifestyle and art pieces. Additionally, customers will have access to L’Eclaireur’s entire stock of merchandise from Paris via their internal software program, allowing U.S. customers to peruse their picks from labels like Rick Owens, Oscar de la Renta, Anthony Vaccarello, Dries Van Noten, Haider Ackermann, and Yohji Yamamoto.

The 6,460-square-foot space formerly housed the David Jones boutique, but Hadida plans to use the top floor of his boutique for private events. As for why the Parisian shop decided to take on the American market: 30 percent of the L’Eclaireur clientele hails from the States.  Aside from a short stint in the Japanese market which ended in 2010, this will be the company’s only venture outside of France.
