Fausto Puglisi Spring 2015

by Paige Reddinger

Fausto Puglisi‘s shows are always a fun, energetic treat. You can expect plenty of Italian decadence, bursts of color, and eye popping patterns. Mercifully, here we didn’t have yet another ’70s-inspired showing. This season chez Puglisi, it was all about the suburban gladiator, apparently. There were skirts worn over pants, like an opening number on model Jamie Bochert paired with a crop top armored in a geometric pattern that evoked a hint of the theme and, more literally, gladiator sandals. The latter came paired with slouchy numbers like a long half B&W and half white and red sweater worn over a matching long skirt and button down. The mix of graphic prints was stunning.

Then, there were sexy pieces like a gold leather mini dress, a gold and black diamond skirt worn with an orange bra top, and a zip-up patterned mini dress with a bright orange pinafore on top. Also on offer: Puglisi’s versions of suburbia, like a triangular printed sweater dress in the vein of a robe on Lindsey Wixson. A floor-length orange dress with a white overlay with cut-out holes, as well as a boxy oversize biker jacket with white leather cut-out overlay, were simply cool. Now, this is the kind of suburbia fantasy we can appreciate.
