ELLE Taps Randy Minor as Design Director

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) ELLE‘s got a new creative force on board. Today, the Hearst glossy tapped New York and Chicago alum Randy Minor as design director. Minor succeeds Paul Ritter, who departed from the title last month to become creative director at Glamour.

“Because he’s a masterful designer and art director. There’s a reason New York sweeps up all the design awards year after year.”
-What will Randy bring to the Elle aesthetic?
“Humanity, sophistication and wit.  Both he and his work display ample quantities of both. I look forward to working with him.”

“[Randy is] a masterful designer and art director. There’s a reason New York sweeps up all the design awards year after year,” ELLE‘s editor-in-chief, Robbie Myers, told The Daily. As for Minor’s expected contributions to the ELLE aesthetic?  “Humanity, sophistication and wit. Both he and his work display ample quantities of both. I look forward to working with him,” Myers said.

Minor is leaving New York after seven years at the weekly mag, most recently as art director. During his tenure there, which kicked off in 2004 with a stint as deputy art director, Minor conceived New York Look in 2007, a bi-annual glossy dedicated to the runway shows from New York, Paris, and Milan, which was published for two years. He also racked up accolades for his design features peppered throughout the publication. Prior to New York, Minor spent over a decade at Chicago, first as the title’s art director from 1992 to 1999, followed by four years as the Windy City monthly’s design director.

Minor will begin his new role at ELLE on December 30.
