Elie Saab Fall 2015

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Darkly, demurely sexy: Elie Saab’s Fall collection kicked off with Karlie Kloss in an all-noir getup and progressed through a series of leather and lace-trimmed looks, mainly in black, a delicious deep teal, and olive. Silhouettes alternated between little minidresses, cinched with slim monochromatic belts and finished with long sleeves, and slightly high-waisted trou-and-blazer looks. The solid looks felt richest, especially when trimmed with generous tufts of fur (see look 26, an LBD tricked out with a big black fur pockets and a massive muff), and were chicer than the couple of florals that made cameos. There were tastefully saucy sheer frocks sporting embroidery in the necessary places, or for the more overt Elie Saab siren, there were plunging necklines, often tie-necked for slightly more coverage. As for the final stretch of elegant, dark gowns, long-sleeved and rife with pretty embellishment? Parfait fare for the Saab girls’ gala circuit needs.
