Dior’s New Exhibition And Book Launch: ‘Dior, The New Look Revolution’

by Paige Reddinger

Have you made your summer plans yet? Consider a chic jaunt to Granville on the coast of Normandy in northwestern France, where the Musée Christian Dior will be hosting the exhibition “Dior, The New Look Revolution” in the late couturier’s childhood home, Villa Les Rhumbs. The exhibition will be curated by well-known fashion historian Florence Müller, who has published notable books on the industry like L’Art de la Mode and the biography Yves Saint Laurent.

A book published by Rizzoli and written by Laurence Benaïm will accompany the exhibition and will detail the story of Dior’s revolutionary take on fashion with the debut of his first couture collection in 1947. The book discusses the creation of the now-iconic Bar suit, which was an ecru jacket and black skirt that became a sort of emblem for the brand. The exhibition will also take visitors through the evolution of Dior style in the hands of its modern designers like the maison‘s jewelry designer, Victoire de Castellane, and creative director Raf Simons. “Dior, The New Look Revolution” is on view now through November 1. If a trip to Normandy isn’t in the cards, you can purchase the book here.
