Diane von Furstenberg has her own DVF Awards every April, but come October she’ll be on the podium receiving instead of giving. The Fashion Group International Night of Stars ceremony will honor DvF with their Super Star Award this fall. (One can only wonder why it took them this long…) Last year, Robert Duffy and Marc Jacobs were the first duo to receive the honor, and Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, and Karl Lagerfeld are former honorees and official members of FGI’s “superstar” club. This will be the 31st show for the organization, which was founded in 1928 when 17 women, led by then-Vogue editor-in-chief Edna Woolman Chase, who conceived an informal lunch for women in fashion, which later became an organization in 1930, with members such as Elizabeth Arden, Edith Head, and even Eleanor Roosevelt. FGI’s Night of Stars event happens on October 23rd at Cipriani downtown.
