We know that migraine headaches are no joke, and we love models, but color us surprised that the health industry is going after such a small minority to market their device. Our Inbox was graced with the following pitch this morning, for a new device to help models with backstage headaches. Please pass this along to every model you may know. Always here to help!

“A model shouldn’t have to overcome a migraine to highlight this year’s styles at Fashion Week. A Cefaly device, may just be the backstage solution. There’s less than one month till New York City’s famed fashion event of the year. Anticipation is building, designers are scrambling and models are continuing to work on their sleek physiques. But what about the model that fears the lighting will trigger a throbbing headache or the one whose workout routinely ends in a migraine? We all know the show must go on.

Migraines can be debilitating and yet, they’re incredibly common. More than 36 million Americans are afflicted with migraine and it’s estimated that 27 million are female, making it one of the leading serious health problems affecting women.

Cefaly is a new drug-free treatment and the first transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation device authorized by the FDA this March for use of headache pain before it starts. A daily twenty-minute session wearing a battery-powered device can help prevent future migraines.

You don’t swallow or rub in a Cefaly; you wear it. It’s a headband and it’s affixed to the center of the forehead using a self-adhesive electrode. This electrode then applies an electric current to the skin and underlying body tissues to stimulate branches of the trigeminal nerve, which has been associated with migraine headaches. Cefaly is available by prescription-only. Women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should check with their doctor before using Cefaly. So models (or anyone with a prescription) could treat their condition backstage and still walk the catwalk – migraine-free.”
