Last night, Coach and Friends of the High Line partnered to co-host the 2014 Summer Party on the High Line, an annual event that has quickly become one of the most covetable bashes of the season. Pourquoi? Well, it could be the picturesque venue, with views of a glowing sunset over the Hudson and a four-block promenade teeming with fashionable rosé-sipping friends. As for the entertainment? A nu-disco party ambience led by DJ Kayper beckoned to 10th Avenue below until the (surprise!) special performance by De La Soul, whose hip hop beats and sticky vocals coaxed everyone to the dance floor. The proceeds of the evening went to support the maintenance of the High Line, and the eve brought out plenty of topnotch stars and fashion industry regulars. We spotted the likes of Chloë Sevigny, Keri RussellKate MaraSusan Sarandon, and the sugary sweet Chloë Grace Moretz (who looked simply stunning in Christopher Kane). Other chicsters who joined Coach’s new creative director Stuart Vevers at his debut event for the label? The likes of Amanda HearstAudrey GelmanDanielle and Jodie SnyderElisabeth de KergorlayEva ChenGiovanna Battaglia, Harry BrantPeter Brant Jr.Indre Rockefeller, Misha Nonoo, Stephanie LaCava, and Steven Kolb to name a few!

Everyone mingled along the linear outdoor patios, lounging on the sundeck and strolling back and forth to each end of the party, taking adorable retro-inspired prints at the Polaroid Fotobar and imbibing along the way. The long-standing relationship between Coach and the High Line is thanks in part to the brand’s conveniently located headquarters at the North end of the elevated Chelsea park. “I walk the High Line to and from work every day,” Vevers told The Daily. He’s been in the new gig for only seven months, but has already been working hard to reinvent the brand’s image. He hasn’t even had time to think of a summer vacation, but as for his preferred method of at-home R&R? “A glass of red wine and comfort food like pizza,” said Vevers. We can definitely get behind that. Simple, but classic…just like the Coach bags we saw being toted around the party.
