Coach Plans To Expand With Their First Men’s Footwear Collection

by Dena Silver

Coach is going back to its roots this Fall with the launch of a full collection of men’s footwear. The label, which was founded in 1941 with the purpose of offering up a line of luxurious men’s leather goods inspired by a worn baseball glove, will release a run of 15 styles for the hommes, which will be carried in all Coach stores starting September 15th. This is the first time the brand has offered a cohesive collection of shoes for men, although in the past they have featured a select few styles each season. This new collection will offer a spate of styles, from rugged boots with lug soles to classic wingtips and driving moccasins, plus two updated sneaker silhouettes.

The men’s portion of Coach’s business has expanded to comprise 14 percent of the company’s total sales, bringing in $700 million over the past four years, according to WWD. Perhaps the spike in men’s sales has something to do with the brand’s expansion into men’s timepieces last fall and the forthcoming release of a ready-to-wear collection. For now, the label’s website only offers leather outerwear and a small selection of knit sweaters in the men’s clothing section. While there is no date set for this introduction to men’s ready-to-wear, speculation has it that the threads will roll out in February. Additionally, Coach stores will be expanding sections aimed solely towards menswear. Absolument! Hopefully the debut will be just as refreshing as creative director Stuart Vevers’ first revamped collection at the label, which bowed at NYFW in February.
